kind, above and beyond service from AS Mileage Plan
I thought I would give AS a call and request a partial credit (10,000 miles) since I had flown only Juneau to Seattle one way and the award price for that would have been 20,000 instead of the 30,000 I spend on a Mexico ticket. I made it clear I understodd by the rules I had no claim on any miles but that I thought the idea of 10,000 was not unreasonable. The response I got was really quite wonderful. The reservation and ticket info was gone from the main rez system but the kind gal who helped me found it and then put back the entire 30,000 and refunded the few change fees I had piled on with each crisis.
Of course, there is no way to relate the loss of an airline ticket with the loss of a person, but it left me with such a good feeling that AS went way beyond fair and into true kindness in their treatment of me. The world is a little brighter today, not for the redeposited miles, though they'll be great, but for the thoughtfulness and consideration offered.

And I really mean it. This is the kind of care they have (almost) always shown on the rare occasion that I have had any problems.
