Air Canada Cancells GSP-YYZ Service!!!!

  • I just found out today that Air Canada has cancelled their twice daily planned service from Greenville/Spartanburg(SC) to Toronto, ON,Canada indefinitely citing 'low business demand'. I only found out today when I was looking for a good fare GSP-YYZ-LHR-YYZ-GSP. It wasn't mentioned on Yahoo Business News the other day, which I noticed, but Ithought that they'd plain forgot. I only got the news when I checked out the ORF/CHS-YYZ news release, and it was HIDDEN at the bottom.
Cancelling the service, that I can understand, but shame on Air Canada for not being more forthcoming with a public announcement!

  • Hey, FlyBoy, did you get out of Nortel too? [Not meant to be a snide comment, just a reconfirmation of your powers of foresight.] But I guess this just shows AC is moving as quickly as a US TV network exec at cancelling routes that don't generate enough traffic.

Is GSP served by UA and/or US? Wonder if AC and UA are carefully looking at traffic on all their transborder routes and determining which STAR partner is best able to handle the loads. Many carriers below the border are also trimming routes and capacity to handle the downturn there. It seems even more serious in the USA, than up here.

  • ...reminds me of YOW-SJC.

I should publish more of my predictions...

    Yes.

UA flies to ORD and IAD.
US flies to PIT, PHL, CLT, LGA, DCA.

  • Most companies don't announce their failures.
