Why do I start bawling every time I see Speed Stick brand deodorant?

  • maybe you missed your opportunity at a happy gay life with a man that wore speed stick brand deodorant and its just your brain letting you know you f'd up.

    now go out there and find yourself a man that can make you happy!


  • Because Speed Stick is a second rate deodorant. It doesn't have the wetness protection that Degree has. When I use Speed Stick, I have armpit stains like a MO FO!!!


  • Part of one of my assignments in one of my psych classes was to observe and record men in the deodorant aisle in supermarkets. They had us go to these sections of the store because of the tremendous volume of emotion that men release whilst shopping for deodorant.

    What I can tell you is that it is perfectly normal for this kind of reaction to occur. I have seen it time and again. Also I have seen men get angry, scream, foam at the mouth, rub deodorant bottles on their bodies, and plead with the deodorants on the shelves.

    It has something to do with a deep caveman like part of the male brain. While it is not fully understood, there are some theories. One is that men associate deodorant with the modern idea of being "pretty" which makes them think they are being "feminine" and thus provoking this barrage of feelings.
    Basically you aren't going to get away from these feelings but you can learn to live with it. Just knowing what the problem is is half of the battle.
